Small town, "hidden" deep in the Novigrad Sea which is one of the most closed bays of the
Adriatic, surrounded by walls that have their roots back to the Libumian (pre-Roman) times.
The walls are like a fan descending from the top of the hill where an old fort is
situated. Detainees Croatian-Hungarian Queen Elisabeth Kotromanić VI. - widow of Louis I, and
her daughter Mary lived in the forth century ().
Between the walls of Novigrad is a beautiful medieval architecture of the city with it's
magnificent traditional architecture, churches, narrow streets, and stairs you climb the path to
the fortress. Novigrad has a picturesque history that is transferred to the present days, with a
developed sense oftourism that "lives" successfully since the late 19th century, when in 1896
arranged walking path and the municipal park have been made.

A fort with the remains of the chapel of St. Barbara, city walls, the old town centre, the
church of St. Catherine from the 14th century, the church of St. Mary and the small church of
St. Nicholas from the 19th century, Heritage Museum with an archaeological collection, a
collection of sacral treasures and an ethno collection. Not far from Novigrad, in Pridraga there
is a church of St. Martin from the 5th century and remains of a church of St. Michael from the

9th century.

In Paljuv, there are several archaeological sites from the Libumian and the Old-Croatian
period.
In Novigrad one can still find excellent home-made wines (red and white wine - zutica),
ecologically produced olive oil and taste fish, shrimps and shells, especially mussels.
